A ductless mini-split is an outdoor unit connected to one or more wall-mounted indoor units by a small refrigerant line. There’s no ductwork, so it can cool and heat a space that the main system was never built to reach.
When a mini-split makes sense
- A garage, workshop or casita that isn’t on the main system
- An upstairs bedroom that stays hot no matter where the thermostat is set
- A room addition or converted patio
- A home office you want to cool without running the whole house
Each indoor unit has its own controls, so you can cool the room you’re in and leave the rest of the house alone.
Repair and maintenance
We also repair and maintain existing ductless systems. The most common problems we see are dirty indoor coils and filters, clogged condensate lines that leak down the wall, and refrigerant leaks at the line connections. Indoor filters should be rinsed every few weeks during heavy use.
Call us to talk through the space you want to cool and we’ll tell you whether a ductless system, duct work or a change to your existing system is the better fix.
